My new rescued betta, kaden, well, i think someone had fought him! he has a lot of scales missing in a cluster on his head, and a line of missing scales on his back, and his fins were raggedy, and alot were missing, which would explain why his anal fin was completly in tact. errr, im pissed. Will the scales heal, they look like scars

they will heal, They may not be, maybe he hurt himself on something in the shipping process, they are kinda rough when they catch them, he will heal though, just keep some good water conditions and Treat with melafix.

hes being treated with melafix for his fins. How do they catch them, like whats there processes at the breeding place. Ive always wondered. Also what conditions do they keep them in?

It really depends on the breeder, some are rough and some are gentle, surprisingly the ones at walmart seem to be gentle with their fish . maybe they bred him and those wounds are from the female and him fighting, it could have happened since the breeders breed like a bunch of them at the same time unlike most of us doing one at a time. That seems more logical, if he was used in fighting then he would be in worst shape. more like eyes missing and fins being unrecognizable.

ill try to get pics. the fish that come from Petco are from a big breeder, that supplies bettas to all petstores or something. They wouldnt breed bettas that go to petstores, would they? seems weird. do they just net them..?

they probably do, thats why there are so many veils, inbreeding and stuff. But They do net them and they were probably rough with him
