Hi, I'm Nippy. I got into fishkeeping 4 years ago, almost to the day. 3 little red oscars were my first fish in a 55 gallon. Ultimately, I have 24 tanks. Only 12 actually have fish in them right now. 11 are freshwater and 1 is brackish. 3 tanks have snakes in them and the others are empty as back-ups or hospital tanks. I am the asst. manager of a local pet store. We sell small animals, freshwater fish, brackish fish, reptiles and birds. I am in charge of all the animal ordering and I get to order all the cool & oddball type fish. ;D
My love is mainly for cichlids, but I also like gobies and other oddballs. I do breed some African cichlids and I show fish at our little local fair.
Other than fish, I am getting into reptiles. I LOVE my snakes. They are the best companion animal! I would like to have a Beardie and a Horned lizard someday, too. And of course, more snakes!
I also own a small espresso drive-thru and go to college on and off, working towards a B.S. in General Geology. My husband is going to school for Airframe & Powerplant so he can work on planes.
I live in Alaska. I don't like it much. I don't do any of the things that typical Alaskans do like hunting, fishing, camping, etc.. My father was military, that's how I got stuck up here. And then one day, I started making some money and it was good so I've stayed. Money isn't everything though (although it's good to have in this kind of hobby!) and someday I will move on from the frozen north!
I also love to sing, talk about fish on-line and read on occassion.
