Scientific Name: Corydoras metae
Family: Callichthyidae
Origin: Colombia
Adult Size: 2 inches
Social: Peaceful
Lifespan: 5 years
Tank Level: Bottom dweller
Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallon
Diet: Omnivore, eats most foods
Breeding: Egglayer
Care: Easy to Intermediate
pH: 6.5-7.0
Temperature: 72-79 F
General Info:
Bandit Cories are strong and not too picky when it comes to food, they will eat flakes that fall to the bottom, but They should get their own foods too like Sinking pellets and once in a while algae wafers since they need some vegetable matter.
Coloration:
This is important because they are confused with the Panda Cory, False Bandit Cory, Adolfo's Cory, and Sands' Cory. Well Bandit Cory's have a Light whitish body colour, usually with a bit of a pink tinge. The black stripes consist of a vertical stripe through the eye (thats where they get the 'bandit' part for the bandit cory)
Feeding
The microworms are good. Adults can be fed the usual good quality flake food, frozen bloodworm, tablet foods, white and grindal worms. Fry should be Fed grinded flakes and Brinshrimp or Baby Brineshrimp after the fry's yolksacs have been depleted.
Sexing:
Generally, the male appears thinner, with a more pointed dorsal fin. This goes the same for most of the cory cats, except the Pygmy cories.
Other Info:
I can say with experience that bandit cories are peaceful and are fun to watch, they do scatter at first when you come near the tank but then they all come out and after you feed them they won't swim away from you. Their fun to watch and pretty strong.
