I just bought 2 new harlequins, and i added them to the tank. I already got lectured on quarantining, and i need to get a q-tank. Problem is, is the new ones are still pale. They were normal colors in the tank at the store, got pale in the car, and have been pale for the last 3 days. They seem to be getting blotches of color, and have a whitish/silver line near the tail instead of orange. Any thing to worry about?

harlequins, are a shoaling fish and do best ina group of 6 or more, but give the newbees a chance to settle into their new tank and chances are their colour will come back.

Unfortunately they are nowhere near as attractive as the wild type. Here's a good profile on them..... www.aquatic-hobbyist.com/profiles/freshwater/cyprinids/harlequinrasbora.html

They'll gain their color, as soon as they feel safer. plus just keep feeding them good foods and they'll brighten up. It takes a week before they feel safe, sometimes even longer!!!!!!!

they said they were Harlequin Rasboras, thats all. Hey question though. One of the new harlequins, keep swimming towards the current of my filter, like hes trapped in it, but i push him away from it with the net, and he swims right back in it, he swims to chase the others away, than comes right back to the current. I dont understand, is he playing?

It's just having a bit of fun, i shouldn't worry, lots of fish like to play in this manner and harliquins are no exception.

Hi Rissa great forum here these are the only other Rasbora's I have ever seen and are slightly different then Harliquins, would this be them ? As for playing in the bubbles, all mine do that across the bubble wall that's been placed across the back of tank, it's funny to watch them all in a row like kids lining up for Ice Cream LOL
