I'm treating with salt but I'm trying to find exactly how much salt per 5 gallons and how often I need to do a water change... I did make one mistake though I DID treat with a med, well sorta. I kinda spilled the medication I did a 30-50% water change and put in a new bag of Purigen to get rid of what was left. oh, well Zen you coulda asked, I use 1 teaspoon of salt per every 5 gallon of water, and I believe you have a 20 gallon tank so use 3 spoons of salt cause I know it should be 4 but 3 would leave it a bit more freshwater and less brackish (a bit less stress too), raise the temps by one degree every day for 3 days and do a 25% water change every Other day, I used to do a water change every day if I was treating ich but then I noticed the fish were a bit better off if I let the salt do its work, and Add more salt the day you do a water change (after the W/c) sorry for putting you on the spot Zen

feeding garlic also helps get rid of ich, it works for my fish, along with the salt some don't like garlic if you squeeze the juice and put it on the flake that works too

Zen thats a good pic, whats the temperature at in your tank? are any of the other fish bullying it? well, I would try to get at least 1 teaspoon of salt directly over him, and the rest spread around all over the tank, especially in places it likes to be around. oh and make sure you have a air stone running, and good luck

The temperature is at 82 F. No fish are bullying him, in fact the Rainbow Shark is like his best friend

well, I hope you turn the heat up soon and start the salt treatment, remember the water changes, they help out a lot, they clear up the water and they take the spores of ich that can regrow on the fish or any other fish in the tank, so its very important.
